Great picture. A really good design.
Did it just evolve on the paper as you were drawing,or did you have this creature in mind before you put pencil to paper?

Mark -this one evolved out of a haze of abstract brush strokes. At least partially. I think I saw his torso, arm and "tail". The rest I had to manufacture but whenever a happy accident popped it's head out, I hit it with a stick.
Bog - Yup. Crazy brushes sampled from old paintings or splotches or scribbled crazyness. Some with a texture turned on in the brush settings.
turned out great and pretty scary too!
woah, I keep imagining him back-handing me with that spikey arm guard and sure is uncomfortable. very cool design on this guy.
Love this gladiator!!!...great values, and the design is fresh and interesting.....also love those life drawings, great dynamic poses.
