another

Another one finding and using serendipitous shapes found in abstract blotches. Started in PS and finished in Painter.

Viking Drawergeek

This week's DrawerGeeks is Vikings! I wish I had time to do more than one. Or even finish this one.

Another one picked out of an abstract mess in photoshop. Filled in the jacket and one edge of the collar, picked out some lights, but the rest was there. Creepy.

Another thing it's hard to get tired of. I made an abstract shapy brush in PS and then "found" her in the scribble and brought out some detail. It's a fun diversion. Oh the BG swatch was in Painter.

Sarge2

Quick paintup for the Sarge. For those asking about the pencil, I had scanned the original sketch and then duplicated it, put it on top as a multiply layer and blurred it. That gave me a softer feel. So any lines I left in would more easily jive with the painting.

Cloak

The only thing I found interesting about this was that I made an image hose of abstract junk that I used to quickly scrub texture into the ground with it. I smeared it up but it started out a bit. to get a sparth-mullins-photoshop-like effect. Found some shapes in there too. It's nice to have the option in painter. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to use the imagehose to paint with the current color. I had to use 50% ish grey patterns for the hose and then paint on a screen or multiply layer. It worked fine for a largely monochromatic surface like this, but I don't know how useful for a more dynamic palette.
